Nonlinear oscillatory shear tests of pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) designed for transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS)

چکیده

Transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS) based on pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) allow for the application of pharmaceutical substances via diffusion through skin. The rheological performance PSA is largely investigated within small amplitude oscillatory shear (typically up to 1 %), although skin motions exceed strains beyond 40 %. In this paper, amine-compatible (AC) and non-amine-compatible (NAC) silicone-based compounds differing in resin content were subjected strain sweeps a twin drive rheometer. Carreau-Yasuda-like fitting storage loss moduli curves intercepts substantial effect both compounds; four times higher, AC determined SAOS, their higher molecular mass combined with enhanced interactions contributed an earlier transition nonlinear viscoelastic region. range, elastic viscous properties are affected by different manner trend favorable as TTS. third relative harmonic from Fourier transformation I3/1 well intra-cycle stiffening thickening ratios provide information relevant optimization large deformations.

Mechanics of Soft PSAs (Pressure Sensitive Adhesives)

The adhesive performances of a PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) are attributed to their viscoelastic properties. In this paper we analyze the viscoelastic behavior of different PSAs having substantially similar adhesive performance. Linear and non linear analyses were performed using small amplitude oscillatory shear tests and tensile stress-strain tests, respectively. It is shown that linear ...

Fabrication of pH sensitive amphiphilic hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesives for transdermal drug delivery system

Based on the blend of styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) thermoplastic elastomer and acrylic resin Eudragit EPO, amphiphilic hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesives (HMPSAs) were fabricated. Compatibility and micromorphology of SIS/EPO blends (SEBs) were analyzed with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that...

Transdermal therapeutic fentanyl-system (TTS-F).

Fentanyl, a surgical analgesic and general anaesthetic, is a lipophilic short-acting synthetic opioid, having a selective potent effect on mu receptors. The transdermal therapeutic fentanyl-system (TTS-F) allows for a continued and sustained titratable amount of fentanyl to be delivered without the inconvenience of the typical 24-h administration of other analgesics. Although incidences of resp...

Deposition Analysis of Pressure Sensitive Adhesives

In this study, a set of pulps containing different PSA products that were recycled at the Forest Products Laboratory (FPL) pilot plant were analyzed for deposition using the PIRA deposition device at North Carolina State University. The work is part of the United States Postal Service Environmentally Benign Pressure Sensitive Adhesive effort. The deposition device consists of a counter-rotating...
